NEW YORK — South Korean singer and musical theater actress Ivy is making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the legendary musical CHICAGO, beginning Monday, August 17, at New York’s Ambassador Theatre.
Ivy will appear in the role from August 17 through September 6, 2026, for a limited engagement of 24 performances, marking a major milestone in her career and bringing a role she has performed for more than a decade in Korea to the Broadway stage.
The official CHICAGO website has announced Ivy as Roxie Hart for the three-week engagement, with her first performance scheduled for Monday, August 17 at 7 p.m.
For Ivy, Roxie Hart is far from a new role.
She first joined the Korean production of CHICAGO as Roxie in 2012 and went on to perform the character across six seasons through 2024, appearing in nearly 600 performances.
Over more than a decade, the role became one of the defining parts of her musical theater career.
Now, she will bring that experience to New York, performing Roxie in English before Broadway audiences for the first time.
Her Broadway opportunity followed an audition process that lasted about a year. Ahead of her New York debut, Ivy said she hopes her appearance will also help American audiences become more interested in Korean musicals and performers.

Before establishing herself as a musical theater performer, Ivy became widely known in South Korea as a pop singer.
She later expanded her career into musical theater and built an extensive stage résumé, with CHICAGO becoming one of the productions most closely associated with her career.
Her Broadway debut therefore represents more than taking on a new production. She is bringing a character she has developed on Korean stages for years directly to the home of Broadway theater.
The challenge is also different.
Ivy will perform the role in English, adding another dimension to a character she already knows intimately from hundreds of performances in Korea.
Ivy’s limited engagement begins August 17 and continues through September 6 at the Ambassador Theatre in Manhattan.
CHICAGO is one of Broadway’s most iconic and enduring productions. Now celebrating its 30th year, the revival won six Tony Awards in 1997, including Best Revival of a Musical.
Ivy’s appearance places a Korean performer in one of Broadway’s most recognizable leading roles at a time when Korean music, film, television and other forms of entertainment continue to attract global audiences.
The Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY) is also supporting Ivy’s Broadway engagement with a special ticket offer for the Korean-American community.
A dedicated promotional link provides access to discounted tickets, giving audiences in the New York and New Jersey area an opportunity to see Ivy’s Broadway debut as Roxie Hart.
The special community ticket offer is separate from the production’s regular ticketing system.
For regular tickets, performance dates and showtimes, audiences can also use the official CHICAGO Broadway performance calendar.

Ivy’s Broadway debut comes as Korean culture continues to reach international audiences through increasingly diverse forms.
K-Pop may be the most visible part of the Korean Wave, but Korean film, television, food, beauty and performing arts have also built growing audiences around the world.
Ivy’s journey offers another example of that expansion — this time through musical theater.
Rather than arriving on Broadway with a newly learned role, she brings more than a decade of experience with Roxie Hart and hundreds of performances behind her.
Beginning August 17, a Roxie shaped on Korean stages will take a new step onto Broadway.
For Ivy, it is both a Broadway debut and the beginning of a new chapter for a role she has been building for more than a decade.
